Launch party! POSTPONED

It is with great sadness that I must inform you that we will not be going ahead with the Launch Party for Bryan Giuseppi Rodriguez Cambana’s Taking a Bow on Thursday 6 February as originally planned.

The decision has been made as our University of Essex community comes to terms with a tragic incident which resulted in the death of four of our students.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience this cancellation may cause, particularly if you were planning to travel to this event.

While we hope to open Taking a Bow to the public shortly after a planned memorial event for the four students who lost their lives (date TBC), we would like to offer you the opportunity to take a private tour of the art installation at Art Exchange. If you would like to arrange a private tour, please reply to this email.

Taking a Bow will run until Friday 21 March, when we hope to invite you to a Closing Party – details of this to follow.

In light of this tragic event, we believe it is important to encourage everyone to talk to someone if you need to.

We have been communicating the following support which is available for University of Essex students and staff:

Taking a Bow is an art installation that reflects on the process of mourning. It is our hope that when we open, we can provide a safe space for the University community and supporters of Bryan Giuseppi Rodriguez Cambana, Art Exchange, and The Essex Collection of Art from Latin America (ESCALA) to come together.

You are warmly invited to the launch party celebrating Bryan Giuseppi Rodriguez Cambana’s Taking a Bow on Thursday 6 February at 6 – 8 pm.

Taking a Bow is an art installation that transforms intimate memories of mourning into an ode to the resilience, beauty, and contradictory dimensions of masculinities.

 All welcome! / Todes bienvenides!
